Jim,

I think you are in principal agreeing with my post, but disagreeing on how information should get passed down to the membership. As I see it, you don't create one packet for one region, and a different packet with different information for another region. Why can't the packet when issued to Regional Commanders be made available to all? How hard is it to post a PDF file on the web site for all to see? They did it with the JAG report. It is after all a National Board Meeting Agenda, not a Regional Meeting Agenda.

Mike: if you don't know what is on the agenda of the board meeting there are only two ways NOT to know....either you don't care to know or the regional commander failed in his or her duties. As far back as the Fall Nationals heads of committees, regions etc, are advised to start working on their reports for the JANUARY BOARD MEETING! The reports are happily accepted up until the after Thanksgiving (!) so they can then be forwarded to the National Adjutant for assembly. Because so many folks are late reports were still being accepted up until December 20th. (My understanding is that it is board policy for a 30 day notice) This then gives the National Adjutant time to distribute the board package to the Regional Commanders so THEY can inform their region of the agenda, and presumably ask for advice on how they want different items handled. If this isn't being done the break down isn't on the board - its at the team or regional level.

When I was Adjutant of the NWT I emailed the agenda to all of the unit commanders in the region. I was only able to do this after the agenda became available in electronic format. Prior to that the 70-80 page agenda package was too expensive to send out. Our regional commander would go through the agenda and we would send out inquiries about critical issues for a response from the unit commanders.

As for the minutes I agree that it would be nice to see them in a more timely manner. However, the minutes do not always reflect what happened at the meeting.
