A week has passed, and I’ve spent some time analyzing the team results of the Nationals Skirmish. Let’s take a look:
Smoothbore Team A-1
In the Smoothbore Team match the 110th Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Co. A won the match with a total time of 213.7 seconds, finishing about 10 seconds faster than the challenging 8th Regiment Virginia Volunteers, Co. B.
In contrast here are the times from previous match winners:
123rd National: 110th OVI 213.7 sec
122nd National: 110th OVI 243.2 sec
121st National: 110th OVI 232.8 sec
120th National: 2nd KY Cav 228.1 sec
119th National: Nanesmond Guard 229.8 sec
118th National: Nanesmond Guard 163.5 sec
This shows the pattern of 110th OVI’s dominance in the last year in this match, and also shows that this National’s match was one of the fastest, but not quite as fast as the amazing time posted at the 118th National by the Nanesmond Guard. Wow, 163.5 seconds for four events. Just wow…
Breechloader Team A-1
The 1st Valley Rangers beat the Nanesmond Guard by just 0.6 seconds to take 1st place in this event! There time was 163.1 seconds. The Dismal Swamp Rangers came in third just 0.6 behind the Nanesmond Guard, this was a close match, and all three teams should be proud of this effort!
Revolver Team A-1
The Nanesmond Guard was awarded 1st place with a time of 106.2 seconds, beating the 1st Stuart Horse Artillery by about 9 seconds. Third and fourth were awarded to Forrest’s Escort and McGregor’s 2nd Battery.
Carbine Team A-1
The 149th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry was beaten by the 111th Ohio Volunteer Infantry who posted a 361.2 second time for the match. The 9th Virginia Cavalry, the Dismal Swamp Rangers, and the 8th Virginia Volunteers rounded out the top five.
Musket Team A-1
Sunday morning was perfect for shooting at the Fort, and the Dismal Swamp Rangers took advantage! Posting a time of 389.9, the swamp rats bested the 9th Virginia Cavalry, 8th Virginia Volunteers, the 110th Ohio, and the Union Guards. Looking into the stats, it’s obvious that the Pigeon Board, with a time of 129.6, put the Swamp Rangers at the top of the rankings early. The 49.6 second 100 yard tile time sealed the deal.
This was the Swamp Rangers First win since the 100th National in October 1999.
